The Psalms of David were written to be sung, many with instructions for instruments — harp, lyre, cymbals. Monasteries later developed Gregorian chant, a flowing melodic line that carries Scripture slowly and attentively.
Around 1025, the monk Guido of Arezzo taught singers with the hymn Ut queant laxis. Each line began one step higher, giving Ut–Re–Mi–Fa–Sol–La — the medieval hexachord behind today’s “Do-Re-Mi”. Church bells, too, have called communities to prayer for centuries.
A note on “frequencies”
Some people associate the old solfège syllables with “Solfeggio frequencies” such as 396, 528 and 639 Hz, or prefer music tuned to 432 Hz. This is a popular contemporary listening practice, not scientifically proven. Here it is simply a calm listening backdrop for prayer.
Psalm 91:11 — “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” Matthew 18:10 speaks of the little ones whose angels “do always behold the face of my Father.”
The members area presents the four archangels as remembered in tradition — Michael (Daniel 10:13, Revelation 12:7), Gabriel (Luke 1:26), Raphael (Tobit 12:15) and Uriel (2 Esdras 4:1) — each with devotional prayers.
About 10–15 minutes a day. Press play on the soundscape, read the day's reflection and prayer, then write a few lines.
Day 1
Begin by simply arriving. A slow breathing guide and Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know” — invite you to quiet the noise of the day.
Journal prompt: What has been filling my mind lately, and what would I like to set down?
Day 2
A gentle walk through the small gifts of an ordinary day, inspired by the thanksgiving psalms.
Journal prompt: Write three things, however small, you are grateful for today.
Day 3
A reflection on mercy, received and given, with space to name what you are ready to release.
Journal prompt: Is there a burden of resentment I could begin to hand over in prayer?
Day 4
Meditating on Psalm 91:11 — “He shall give his angels charge over thee” — and what trust may look like in daily life.
Journal prompt: Where in my life am I being invited to trust more?
Day 5
A guided prayer in the tradition of Saint Michael, to read slowly at your own pace.
Journal prompt: Who would I like to place in God’s care today?
Day 6
Mostly silence and soundscape. Inspired by Tobit, where Raphael accompanied a traveler unseen, you are invited simply to listen.
Journal prompt: What did I notice in the silence?
Day 7
Looking back over the week and choosing one simple practice to carry forward.
Journal prompt: What one habit from this week would I like to keep?
Short prayers to begin and end the day.
Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel, with the scripture behind each.
A guardian angel prayer card, printed from your browser.
